5 minutes of TRR. This is getting more consistent.
20 minutes of all the 2 eighth note groupings of Interdependence 2021, leaving the 16th groupings for next time I pick this this up.
Revisited my chords again and had a few more observations. I noticed they tend to sit well if the hands break over the smallest interval, and the large gap between the root and the next chord tone can usually be occupied by one hand. I've also committed to making sure any chords I can do in one bracket, I can do in the other, ideally by switching the bass note between the hands the way I would if I was practicing the pentachords. 👍 ... I spent this weekend in my hometown but I took my U8 down for a little informal practice here and there. I managed to pretty thoroughly cover the 2 eighth note groups for Interdependence 2021. I moved to the three sixteenth notes, but this was pretty difficult! My reflex was to play 3 eighth notes. It took playing slowly with a 16th note high hat to make it clear. I still need to do many of those, I got to the "E" of 2.
Today I don't find myself with much time or motivation to record what needs to be recorded, so I pulled up Matt Johnson of Jamiroquai's latest vid on "Neo-Soul chord progressions"

and attempted to follow his exact chord voicings on the U8.
What a challenge! I have a hard time remembering chords, and, for now, trying to figure out something natural was quite the challenge. Here's what I came up with, where dots are LH and triangles are RH. My only "rules" I followed here was to have a sort of consistent "uncrossed" chord structure with the left-hand in the bass, and trying to utilize the DACD register appropriate where there are closer voicings. I may have gotten some of the chords wrong, but I tried! I hope to get more quick and natural with this as I go, perhaps with some extra help. :) ... See MoreSee Less
